Artist's Comments

Last summer, my son strung up some junk in a tree in the backyard. He'd salvaged the rope, a shaped piece of wood from a broken chair, a fishing pole reel, and some other unidentifiable objects, on our bulky waste pick up day. For him, the hanging stuff was a toy. He even swung on it a few times. But I viewed it as a sculpture. Modern, child-like, and recycled.

The junk he strung up has long since come down and been thrown away again (except for the broken chair bit which has migrated over to the scraps he uses to make temporary forts), but the rope remains. I keep meaning to take it down, but I've not gotten around to it.

When I wandered out to shoot, I stopped to consider how difficult it would be to take it down. And noticed the rain on the nylon strands.

Recycled art is recycled once again...

I make mistakes, I’m out of control, and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.

If we light a candle a shadow appears. The more we strive for light the bigger shadow will grow behind us.

Gorgeous. I love the monochromatic/metallic look you captured here.

Wonderful in concept too.

How do you know when you're falling? When the wind takes your breath away.
